The Bow Stones

The Bow Stones are the bases of two saxon? crosses. The 'bow' reference is to the idea that two stones placed like this were used when tensioning and stringing a hunting bow.

When the sun is in the West, Bowstone Gate Farm is often seen shining out white on the hill top from the suburbs of southern Manchester.

route: Re-enter Lyme Park

route: along Boundary Wall South then West

The Moor Herd

The Moor Herd of Red Deer tend to stay apart from the Park Herd. Their behaviour is quite different, they appear aloof and more wild.  When food is delivered they will casually migrate across the Moor toward it wheras the Park Herd will charge up and start eating as the tractor is unloaded.
The Moor Herd also seem to stay in a larger distinct herd than the Park Herd.

There is a deer leap allowing interaction but this only extends to a number of stags adventuring across during the rut looking for the girl next door.

I'm lying in long grass with telephoto and the grass is waving in front of camera.

What you lookin' at?

The core of the herd with a nice mix of ages and sexes

Stag House appears on all the maps but this is actually all that's left of it

The Moor Herd all moving casually toward their food delivery.
This distant shot is more typical of a sighting of the Moor Herd.
